GAO reviewed the Securities and Exchange Commission's (Commission) new rule on the registration of municipal advisors. GAO found that (1) the final rule establishes a registration regime for municipal advisors and imposes certain recordkeeping requirements on such advisors; and (2) the Commission complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
