GAO reviewed the Department of Justice's (Justice) new rule on national standards to prevent, detect, and respond to prison rape. GAO found that the final rule adopts national standards to prevent, detect, and respond to prison rape, as required by the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA); and (2) Justice complied with the applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
